The Toronto-based singer shares today \u201cFace Like Yours,\u201d the cathartic lead single off her forthcoming <em>crushed! <\/em>EP, due out June 27. \u201cYou\u2019re so original for leaving me on read,\u201d she sings on the guitar-pop track, at once tongue-in-cheek and scathing. \u201cKnow you peaked in high school, but it still goes to your head.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFace Like Yours\u201d is a \u201cfunny take on a bad situationship,\u201d Porat tells <em>PAPER<\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s about realizing that the energy you\u2019re putting into someone isn\u2019t being met and that they can\u2019t, or don\u2019t care to, do better.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"rm-shortcode\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"c6d699b963f2e25fac062e60b34bd801\" style=\"padding-top:56.25%\"><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Alex Porat - Face Like Yours (Official Video)\" width=\"920\" height=\"518\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5Akp7zUof90?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>In the Justin Alexis-directed music video, Porat is shown having dinner opposite Francesco Manella, who appears as her handsome boyfriend. \u201cWhat a waste, a face like yours,\u201d she sings, as he smirks and flexes in her direction, lacking any self-awareness. \u201cWhat a shame, you are nothing more than a night to remember, your hand-me-down sweater\/ Your future is dry as a desert.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t want to write a sad song for people to cry to because the type of person this is about definitely isn\u2019t worth crying over,\u201d Porat continues. \u201cInstead it\u2019s an upbeat and fun pop track that people can blast, dance to and realize that they deserve way better.
