{"id":2800,"date":"2025-03-24T16:42:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-24T17:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pilotshopworld.com\/?p=2800"},"modified":"2025-03-26T18:40:23","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T18:40:23","slug":"radio-presenter-chris-stark-38-reveals-testicular-cancer-diagnosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.pilotshopworld.com\/index.php\/2025\/03\/24\/radio-presenter-chris-stark-38-reveals-testicular-cancer-diagnosis\/","title":{"rendered":"Radio presenter Chris Stark, 38, reveals testicular cancer diagnosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"448\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pilotshopworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/SEI_242073822-d0e3-e1742838005468.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22781870\" alt=\"Chris Stark wearing a striped jacket at a Brit Awards after-party\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Chris Stark has urged other men to regularly check themselves (Picture: Dave Hogan\/Hogan Media\/Shutterst)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Radio presenter <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2022\/07\/05\/chris-stark-joins-capital-breakfast-with-roman-kemp-after-radio-1-exit-16945307\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chris Stark<\/a> has revealed he has undergone chemotherapy treatment after being diagnosed with testicular <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/cancer\/\">cancer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The media personality, 38, who shot to fame on <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/bbc-2\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\">BBC<\/a> Radio One and currently presents the Capital FM Breakfast Show, said it was found during a routine doctor&#8217;s appointment a couple of months ago.<\/p>\n<p>Chris said he had surgery &#8216;pretty quickly&#8217; and was &#8216;effectively cured&#8217; after it was &#8216;caught early&#8217; but has taken time off his work commitments to undergo chemotherapy as a preventative measure.<\/p>\n<p>On <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/instagram\/\">Instagram<\/a>, he said he was sharing his diagnosis to encourage other men to<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2021\/04\/28\/testicular-cancer-what-are-the-signs-and-how-to-check-for-it-14482520\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> check themselves for testicular cancer <\/a>and to follow up with a doctor over any uncertainty about any possible symptoms.<\/p>\n<p>Chris wrote: &#8216;It&#8217;s a tricky subject matter to talk about but I&#8217;m willing to put my now one ball on the line here if it helps make that conversation less tricky for guys and encourages someone to check themselves and potentially save a life.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The radio star signed off his post by thanking his friends, family and co-workers for their support, as well as the medical team who have been caring for him.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"430\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pilotshopworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/SEI_245029599-beeb.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22781889\" alt=\"Mandatory Credit: Photo by Jonathan Hordle\/Global\/REX\/Shutterstock (14977503j) Sian Welby, Jordan North and Chris Stark on the red carpet at Capital&#039;s Jingle Bell Ball 2024 Capital&#039;s Jingle Bell Ball with Barclaycard, Arrivals, The O2 Arena, London, UK - 08 Dec 2024\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t<\/div><figcaption>Chris has been taking a break from his radio duties to undergo chemotherapy (Picture: Jonathan Hordle\/Global\/REX\/Shutterstock)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"factbox\" data-ico=\"factbox_article\" data-track-module=\"factbox_article\">\n<h2 class=\"factbox-title\">\n\t\t\t\tWhat are the symptoms of testicular cancer?\t\t\t<\/h2>\n<div class=\"factbox-content\">\n<p>Symptoms of testicular cancer include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a lump or swelling in your testicle<\/li>\n<li>your testicle getting bigger<\/li>\n<li>an ache or pain in your testicle or scrotum (the skin that covers the testicles)<\/li>\n<li>your scrotum feeling heavy, firm or hard<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other symptoms can include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>an ache or pain in your back or lower tummy<\/li>\n<li>losing weight without trying<\/li>\n<li>a cough<\/li>\n<li>difficulty breathing or swallowing<\/li>\n<li>a sore or swollen chest<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/conditions\/testicular-cancer\/symptoms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NHS<\/a> says it&#8217;s important to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/conditions\/how-to-check-your-testicles\/\">check your testicles<\/a>\u00a0regularly so you know what&#8217;s normal for you. This makes it easier to notice any changes in the size, look or feel of your testicles.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>He added: &#8216;I also want to take a moment to send my thoughts and prayers to anyone affected by cancer. Check your balls.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Chris also said he would be returning to the radio tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>In the comments section, he received an outpouring of support, including from his co-workers.<\/p>\n<p>Among them was Sian Welby who said: &#8216;Unreal bravery from you Chris. I\u2019ve never known anyone handle a situation with such class and determination. Can\u2019t wait to have you back with us tomorrow.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Jordan North also added: &#8216;We love you so much mate and can\u2019t wait to have you back on the show with us tomorrow. You sharing this is so powerful.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Echoing his sentiment, Clara shared: &#8216;SO glad you\u2019ve caught it quickly, salute for sharing!!!&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Fleur added: &#8216;Thank you for sharing! Such an important message and happy to hear you caught things early. Wishing you all the best and hope you feel stronger and stronger.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The presenter&#8217;s Instagram post in full reads: &#8216;Around a couple of months ago, after a routine trip to my local doctors, I found out I have Testicular Cancer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I had surgery pretty quickly and have been off the radio\/ podcasts the last couple of weeks having chemotherapy to best prevent anything from coming back.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The reason I want to share this is that I feel like an idiot that I didn&#8217;t spot this sooner.
