href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/bbc-2\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\">BBC<\/a> next week.<\/p>\n<p>Reunion is a four-part series presented in both spoken English and British Sign Language (BSL), which follows a deaf man\u2019s quest to uncover the truth about the events that led to his incarceration 10 years earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Unable to fully integrate with the hearing world and shunned by the deaf community, Daniel Brennan (Matthew Gurney) reunites with his estranged daughter Carly (Lara Peake) while the wife of his victim, Christine (<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/anne-marie\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\">Anne-Marie<\/a> Duff), searches for answers as to why he killed her husband.<\/p>\n<p>Written by Sheffield-born deaf writer William Mager, the show was produced by the team behind <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/netflix\/\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\">Netflix<\/a>\u2019s smash hit Adolescence.<\/p>\n<p>Starring the likes of Eddie Marsan and former EastEnders star <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/rose-ayling-ellis\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/liamodell.com\/2025\/04\/01\/reunion-bbc-drama-rose-ayling-ellis-matthew-gurney-anne-marie-duff-eddie-marsan-lara-peake-deaf-british-sign-language\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Liam O\u2019Dell<\/a>, Ayling-Ellis said: \u2018This is a big one. I think that it\u2019s ground-breaking because you\u2019ve got a deaf writer, you\u2019ve got deaf actors \u2013 more than one, there\u2019s a lot of them. He\u2019s just a man who happens to be deaf, and he\u2019s on his own journey and that really hooked me. If he was a victim, I wouldn\u2019t have auditioned for him as a part for me but it was a really exciting character to play.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/01\/netflix-finally-adding-incredible-british-film-cant-afford-miss-22649948\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/01\/netflix-finally-adding-incredible-british-film-cant-afford-miss-22649948\/\">How to Have Sex<\/a> star Peake also praised how the show strikes a balance between being a thriller and highlighting issues within the deaf community.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u2018There\u2019s a huge amount of humanity in [this series]. This need to communicate and understand one another and want answers. So I think it\u2019s really beautiful that it\u2019s got all these different layers, as well as the heart of it \u2013 this driving force of the revenge story,\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n<p>Following Adolescence’s <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/25\/adolescence-makes-british-tv-history-racking-24-000-000-netflix-views-22787394\/#:~:text=Submit%20Stuff-,Netflix's%20most%2Dwatched%20show%20hits%20jaw%2Ddropping,66%2C000%2C000%20views%20in%20two%20weeks&text=Adolescence%20has%20accumulated%20an%20astonishing,UK%20series%20ever%20on%20Netflix.\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/25\/adolescence-makes-british-tv-history-racking-24-000-000-netflix-views-22787394\/#:~:text=Submit%20Stuff-,Netflix's%20most%2Dwatched%20show%20hits%20jaw%2Ddropping,66%2C000%2C000%20views%20in%20two%20weeks&text=Adolescence%20has%20accumulated%20an%20astonishing,UK%20series%20ever%20on%20Netflix.\">record-breaking viewing numbers on Netflix<\/a>, the show’s producers will be hoping for a similar impact with Reunion.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, it was revealed that Netflix drama is now being made available for free in all British schools.<\/p>\n<p>The four-part drama, co-created by and starring <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/stephen-graham\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/stephen-graham\/\">Stephen Graham<\/a>, deals with incel culture, social media addiction and the difficulty of parenting in today’s world.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement was made as Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer met with the show\u2019s creators at Downing Street during a meeting about the issues tackled by the series.<\/p>\n<p>Saying that the programme <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/04\/01\/adolescence-power-change-uk-keir-starmer-says-22825236\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/04\/01\/adolescence-power-change-uk-keir-starmer-says-22825236\/\">hit him, his wife, and his son \u2018hard\u2019<\/a>, the Labour leader added that he wished to work out \u2018what can we do as a society to stop and prevent young boys being dragged into this whirlpool of hatred and misogyny\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u2018It\u2019s pernicious and persistent.
