carpet hosts at the 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/met-gala\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Met Gala<\/a> appeared not to recognise one of the most famous men on the planet.<\/p>\n<p>The awkward exchange has given the star\u2019s fans \u2018second-hand embarrassment galore\u2019 and had them up in arms on his behalf \u2013 although he handled it graciously in the moment himself.<\/p>\n<p>Shah Rukh Khan is the biggest name in <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/bollywood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bollywood<\/a>, and so consequently one of the most prominent celebrities in the world, given the sheer number of fans (millions upon millions) who <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2023\/12\/07\/netflix-fans-obsessed-new-film-barbie-crowd-will-go-nuts-over-19939659\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">enjoy his popular movies<\/a>, including staples like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and more recent hits like Chennai Express.<\/p>\n<p>The 59-year-old was making his debut appearance <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/05\/06\/zendayas-iconic-reaction-diana-ross-upstaging-met-gala-red-carpet-23032650\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">at the Met Gala on Monday<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/new-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York<\/a> City, travelling over for the appearance from Mumbai.<\/p>\n<p>As one of the biggest showbiz nights of the year, Khan \u2013 known fondly by his legion of fans as SRK \u2013 was making history as the first male Indian actor to walk the blue carpet, alongside fellow actor Diljit Dosanjh.<\/p>\n<p>The likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2023\/05\/25\/priyanka-chopra-left-bollywood-set-after-dehumanising-moment-18847788\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">actresses Priyanka Chopra Jonas<\/a>, Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone have all attended the prestigious event in previous years, but this was a first for Bollywood\u2019s leading I don\u2019t know if I would have come here on my own. This man has a bigger fan following than everyone at the Met Gala and more. We deserve more respect.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018This is honestly so embarrassing for them\u2026. Did they get no info on him?
