Aimee Lou Wood<\/a> has revealed the truth behind the pictures showing her crying after she criticised a Saturday Night Live<\/a> sketch that mocked her.<\/p>\n

The White Lotus star made an appearance at last night’s Met Gala<\/a> alongside her co-star Patrick Schwarzenegger<\/a>, where she wore a black suit-inspired outfit by designer Priya Ahluwalia.<\/p>\n

Last month, the US TV show SNL sparked backlash after comic Sarah Sherman played a spoof version of Aimee’s White Lotus character with oversized prosthetic teeth, which the actress called ‘mean and unfunny’<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While it was claimed that SNL didn’t formally apologise to Aimee, Sarah made the gesture of sending her flowers<\/a> following the widespread criticism.<\/p>\n

In the weeks after the sketch originally aired, Aimee was spotted crying in London with her friend, prompting fans to speculate if the skit had been the cause of her tears at the time.<\/p>\n

However, she has now set the record straight to shut down the speculation.<\/p>\n

rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Entertainment Tonight<\/a> at the Met Gala about the response to the SNL skit, she said: ‘It all got very out of control\u2026 my whole thinking was I could either say something because I saw it and people were angry about it\u2026 and have it be said, and I won\u2019t spiral inwardly, and feel terrible about myself.’<\/p>\n<p>The sketch \u2013 which is titled The White Potus and replaces the main characters with Donald Trump and his inner circle \u2013 was a spoof of Mike White’s drama.<\/p>\n<p>Aimee played Chelsea in the third series, who’s in a complicated relationship with Rick, played by Walton Goggins, who is <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/04\/15\/inside-white-lotus-stars-aimee-lou-woods-walton-goggins-feud-praises-cruel-snl-skit-22910248\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/04\/15\/inside-white-lotus-stars-aimee-lou-woods-walton-goggins-feud-praises-cruel-snl-skit-22910248\/\">rumoured to have been in a ‘feud’ with his on-screen love interest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 31-year-old also claimed that her criticism of the sketch was ‘really simple and balanced’.<\/p>\n<p>She added: ‘I wasn\u2019t crying about the SNL skit, I was crying about something completely unrelated, but it all got quite out of control,’ she said about the pictures of her crying.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item for him to do, he\u2019s going to be hilarious, I\u2019m so excited,’ she stated.<\/p>\n<p>Aimee also explained how she ‘loved’ working with Walton, describing their experience as the ‘best thing ever’ despite rumours that the two co-stars had drifted apart after the series aired.<\/p>\n<p>She added that she would consider appearing on SNL in future, but not when Walton hosts later this month. whole conversation is just about my teeth, and it makes me a bit sad because I\u2019m not getting to talk about my work.
