JoJo Siwa has explained what she meant when telling Chris Hughes to ‘wait 48 hours’ on Celebrity Big Brother.
The 21-year-old has spent the last three weeks locked in the house, where she grew close to fellow contestant Chris, 32.
The pair’s intense bond led to speculation that perhaps they were more than friends, and these flames were further fanned when it was revealed Jojo broke up with her partner Kath Ebbs at the Big Brother wrap party.
While on the show, JoJo received a letter from her mum Jessalynn, which included a message which said: ‘The most important thing to tell you is a message from Kath because I know you really miss them the most. Kath’s keen to see you when you get out.’
After receiving the letter, JoJo spoke to Chris and said she needed to wait ’48 hours’ before sharing something that had been playing on her mind.
Now, a few days on, JoJo has clarified what she meant at the time.

Appearing on The Useless Hotline Podcast, JoJo was asked by host Max Balegde about her hardest moment on the show.
‘There’s a moment, where I spoke to Chris and said “give me 48 hours and I’ll tell you”. What I was feeling in that moment was the hardest because that was when I had a real realisation in my life that I needed to for myself fix personally fast and I needed to handle essentially immediately,’ she said.
‘I just told Chris that little bit, I just told him that little bit because he could again see something was going on and that was something that I had been thinking about since day three and it engulfed me and it was a decision that is not light at all um and I needed to talk about it,’ she added.
Although some initially believed she might be speaking about Chris in that moment, they now believe JoJo was hinting at her impending break-up with Kath, whom JoJo ‘dumped’ at the show’s after party.
Her comments come after Jessalynn hinted at the real reason behind JoJo and Kath’s split.
Keen-eyed Big Brother viewers on Reddit spotted that Jojo’s mum has reposted a video where a fan presented an alternate take on the breakup.
‘I don’t think JoJo has split up with Kath because of Chris TikTokker,’ littlemissvodka explained. ‘That’s the kind of narrative that Kath is trying to put across.’
‘JoJo has broken up with Kath because JoJo doesn’t know who she is. She’s figuring out herself.’
Kath revealed that JoJo had broken up with them in an emotional Instagram video where she said she was in a ‘state of complete shock’.
‘In the last eight hours, I flew [to London] and went to the live show to show up for my partner and support them in their experience and later on, address my feelings of hurt and work through them like all relationships do.
‘But before I could even get back to the hotel, I… It’s actually crazy… I went to the afterparty with my now ex and was dumped in the party.
‘I was told there were confused feelings there and they had realised in the house I wasn’t the person they wanted to spend the foreseeable with.’
Since leaving the Big Brother finale, JoJo and Chris appeared together on This Morning, where they spoke to Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard about their time in the house.
During the interview, Jojo admitted that her time on Big Brother gave her clarity on her life and her relationship.

‘I didn’t want to air that out very publicly, but there were countless things that I was like, “That’s not something that I should be okay with, and I don’t need to be okay with, and I’m not happy.”’
‘I knew as soon as I got out, I knew I wanted to fix things in my life and make the changes that I needed to make.’
When pressed, if meeting Chris had been the reason for her break-up, she was clear their relationship was ‘platonic’ while Chris added he saw their strong bond as being a ‘soulmate friendship.’
Following the interview, JoJo was snapped arriving at Heathrow Airport in what appeared to be Chris’s oversized grey hoodie and coral beanie.
As she landed in LA, however, the Dance Moms’ star had swapped the casual look for a more glam black sweatshirt (although she kept the beanie) and couldn’t help but smile when reunited with her mum.
